Growing up in Michigan, winters can be awfully gloomy, and cold. Seasonal depression is very common in places with long harsh winters. My best friend told me she was feeling a little blue, so I thought it’d be a good idea for us to plan a trip somewhere with sun and sand.
So the research began, for a quick 3-day trip. I was on the hunt for a location that was in the continental US, somewhere we could relax and enjoy tropical drinks and warm weather.
After narrowing down my search I decided to consult Google one last time for the “Best beaches in Florida.”
Clearwater Beach was a unanimous favorite. Clear skies, white sands, and miles of walk able ocean front beach, our decision was made. Neither one of us had ever visited the Tampa area so it seemed like a good place to go.
We stayed in an Airbnb in Clearwater with the most darling host Vera, a piano teacher from England. The views from her place were stunning. It was easy to get around, ride-sharing options are easily accessible. We rode the ferry over to the beach every day.
On the way to the Pier 61, we stopped at The Salt Cracker located at the very end of the pier by ferry drop off spots. We had several mimosas and the best Chicken & Waffles I’ve ever had in my life.
Downtown Tampa was a quick Lyft ride away for 2 was $30 round trip. We went to a few bars which we’re very chill, great selection of music.
I really love short beach trips because it gives opportunity to refresh and reboot. All you need is a little sunshine. At the end of the day, nothing says “everything is going to be alright” like Pomegranate mojitos by the fireside.
